The University of Georgia announced plans to invest $800,000 into a pilot program allowing thousands of students access to premium AI tools, including ChatGPT Edu and Gemini Pro, in spring 2026. The announcement was made at the 2026 State of the University Address, given by UGA President Jere W. Morehead.Interested students can express their preference for OpenAI’s ChatGPT Edu or Google’s Gemini Pro for Education on the interest form provided in an ArchNews email from Feb. 4. Through these platforms, selected students will have access to advanced learning, research and career readiness tools.Students must register for the program platforms by Wednesday, Feb. 18. Students will be notified of selections by the end of February.
